Frequently asked questions
1. What are B3 DEFENSE™ Barrier Repair Waterless Serum Pillows?
B3 DEFENSE™ are innovative waterless nanofibre serum pillows powered by patented SNC BEST® Ball Electrospinning Technology. Activated by a fine mist, each NanoPillow transforms into a fresh, lightweight water serum that helps strengthen the skin barrier, replenish hydration and restore healthier-looking skin.
2. What makes B3 DEFENSE™ different from a traditional serum?
Unlike conventional serums that are bottled as ready-made liquids, B3 DEFENSE™ remains completely waterless until activated. A fine mist transforms each NanoPillow™ into a fresh water serum moments before application for a unique skincare ritual.
3. Why is a healthy skin barrier important?
Your skin barrier helps lock in moisture while protecting against everyday environmental stressors. When it becomes weakened, skin can feel dry, tight and uncomfortable. B3 DEFENSE™ is designed to help replenish hydration and support a stronger, more resilient skin barrier.
4. Is B3 DEFENSE™ suitable for sensitive skin?
The formula is designed to support dry, stressed and barrier-compromised skin. If you have particularly sensitive skin, we recommend performing a patch test before first use.
5. Can I use it every day?
Yes. B3 DEFENSE™ is suitable for daily use, morning and evening, to help maintain a healthy, resilient skin barrier.
6. Can I use it with Retinal?
Yes. B3 DEFENSE™ pairs well with Vitamin A products and is an ideal companion to help replenish hydration and support the skin barrier when using retinoids.
7. Do I need the Activator Face Mist?
Yes. The Activator Face Mist transforms the waterless NanoPillow™ into a fresh, lightweight water serum. It is an essential part of the B3 DEFENSE™ ritual.
8. How many NanoPillows™ should I use?
One NanoPillow™ provides a single application for the face, neck and décolletage.
9. How long before I see results?
Many users notice immediate hydration and comfort after the first application. With continued use, skin appears smoother, stronger and more resilient while the skin barrier becomes better supported.
10. Do I need to rinse it off?
No. B3 DEFENSE™ is a leave-on treatment and should be allowed to absorb fully into the skin.
11. Can I use it with exfoliating acids?
Yes. If using AHAs or BHAs, introduce products gradually and always wear sunscreen during the day.
Is my skin purging or breaking out from a new product?
1. What is skin purging?
Skin purging is a temporary breakout triggered by active ingredients that speed up skin cell turnover (e.g., retinoids, exfoliating acids, Vitamin C). This process brings clogged pores to the surface faster before the skin clears.
2. Purging vs. Breakouts
Purging: Occurs in usual breakout areas, consists of small uniform pimples, and lasts 4–6 weeks.
Breakout/Reaction: Appears in new areas, lasts beyond 6 weeks, and may include painful cysts, irritation, or rashes.
3. What causes skin purging?
Ingredients that accelerate cell turnover include:
✔ Retinoids (RetinAL, Retinol, Tretinoin)
✔ Exfoliating Acids (AHAs like Glycolic Acid, BHAs like Salicylic Acid)
✔ Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid)
✔ Benzoyl Peroxide, Azelaic Acid, Enzymes
4. What causes breakouts?
- Hormonal fluctuations: (e.g., menstruation, pregnancy)
- Stress & diet: (dairy, high-glycaemic foods)
- Clogged pores: (heavy products, comedogenic ingredients)
- Bacteria & environmental factors: (humidity, pollution)
5. Should you stop using a product if you’re purging?
No—purging means the product is working! Stay consistent but avoid adding new actives to prevent irritation.
6. How to minimise purging
- Introduce actives gradually: start once a week (evening), then increase to 2–3 times per week if no irritation after two weeks.
- Use gentle, hydrating skincare alongside actives.
- Avoid over-exfoliation and harsh scrubs.
- Stay consistent—purging is temporary!
7. Can non-active ingredients cause purging?
No—only cell-turnover ingredients trigger purging. If a product without actives is causing breakouts, it’s likely irritation or clogged pores.
8. What if it’s a breakout, not purging?
- Stop using the product and observe changes.
- Check for comedogenic ingredients.
- Patch test before full use.
